Blue Ribbon Free Speech Campaign

Free speech is EVERYBODY'S business!!!

Married to the dashing, handsome and debonair Bob for some 40+ years.......... time sure does fly when you're having fun....... so do the adjectives when he's looking over my shoulder.

Born at an early age to immigrant parents (from Mississippi) living in the Heart of Dixie........ That's Alabama for the uninformed among you........... and you know who you are.

Growing up in the swamp brought many learning experiences, as did having a passel of brothers.. Being the only girl... (well, Mama would be listed among the girls, but we were the only two in our family), it's a wonder I didn't end up alligator bait. They did allow me to live to adulthood (well, as adult as I've managed to achieve, which, by some folks' measure, isn't all that much ). And, they even allow me to come home on Holiday, if I bring "goodies" of some sort. They prefer I not bring barbeque ( ever see Fried Green Tomatoes....... they don 't call me "Tawanda" for nothin'! ) .....

I began my gardening interests at the ripe ol' age of five, discovering that orchids do well "down by the riverside", but their days are numbered ( in the low numbers...) when they are transplanted in the azalea/camellia beds. ( Don't worry, they weren't on the endangered list then ...[ ok, ok! There was no list, then!] ). But I have gone on to bigger (but not necessarily better) things, ( which takes us to this next section that Bob said I have to fill out! ... He'll tell you that I always follow his directions implicitly! )

Oh, I almost missed my opportunity to tell you, that sometime in my growing-up years, I met the guy who simply stole my heart away (am I ever a sucker for a guy in a uniform!),and I've spent the last 35 years trying to keep up with him. Believe me, he has covered some territory! And, the whole way, he's dragged me, kids, dogs, cats, birds, fish, plants, (yes, plants!), there isn't much we haven't subjected him to. He's done fairly well with it all, too. Not bad for an "only child" kid from the big city... There are days when he's even glad to see us. Guess he's gotten accustomed to us, finally.

Now we've started on a new batch... we have a beautiful and talented new daughter, Doe, (by courtesy of parents, Carol & Mike... and they did a wonderful job, as you can see from her picture on our home page...). I only bring this up in order to let you know that Bob spends much of his "free" time keeping our larder bulging with new things to delight her delicate palate, such as squirrel,

'possum, crawdads and the old standbys of pizza, burgers & fries, and oh yes, pasta....... just kiddin' 'bout the 'possum, squirrel and crawdads.

To hit a note of seriousness (don't worry, they don't last long...), all in all, I've had a blessed life. I've been privileged to have the best; parents, (extended family), friends, ...why, I've had more love in half my life than most folks have in two lifetimes. I don't have much room to complain. Bob is the love of my life, as are the children that God has blessed us with. Our life has been just like a bed of roses. ( If you're a gardener, you'll understand; if you're not, you won't ), and I wouldn't have missed any of it! Staying married isn't simple in today's world,...actually, it probably never has been. It's worth the effort!

( BTW, my brothers are The Best! They each have beautiful wives & families; well, they just have one wife, ... (just one each... just one at a time,... this isn't at all what I was trying to say! ... This may have something to do with them entertaining the idea of using me as alligator bait...!)

As I said."God has blessed me greatly"! And I thank Him. I've already shared with you that I am something of a gardener. I've moved plants from one end of this country to the other! ... from Mobile to Merrimack ( NH ). ( I'm not kiddin'! ) I enjoy every aspect of flowers; I grow them, arrange them, dry them, eat them, wear them, and, on occasion, smok... uh, never mind ( no, Bob said for me to say that, and you know that I always do what Bob says! ) . You get the picture. I really like plants! I even put them into my candles ( which I enjoy making ) .

Another of my great loves is music. I am blessed with a ministry in music with our church. I am an alto in the sanctuary choir, have the great honor of being part of the Praise Team, and perhaps the most fun of all, I direct the three, four & five year old children's choir.

I am a believer in the use of herbs for health & well being in this life... I make no apologies for this, as I believe this is how He intended for it to be from the beginning ( Genesis ).

I have little time for other things, but it has become increasingly important for me to learn how to operate this machine, so Bob overlooks the fact that I'd rather dig a hole than run the vacuum cleaner again. ( Since he is my teacher, I have to do extra good. It keeps him busy just straightening out the messes I am able to create... he has this thing so geared up that it plays the theme from Twilight Zone every time I get within 20 feet of the thing! ), but I am trying... He is sooooo understanding. But I must go..... the CD has finished, the sprinkler needs to be tended to, the lavender is waiting to be cut, the candle wax is ready to pour, must make the bed for Steve & Doe ( they'll be here for the Holiday! ), Mick is due a visit, and I'm waiting for Samantha to call!

Enough already, to the HOME page!
